VIDEO ART II: HYBRID FORMS IN BRAZILIAN CONTEMPORARY ART TODAY
SEASON 1 | 08
Sinopse
This documentary explores the relations between video art and experimental cinema in addition to show films and videos produced by artists. In interviews with artists and critics from different regions of Brazil, undoubtedly it is increasing a shift of tendencies in this field, from video production to visual arts and vice versa.
By proposing a reflection on the boundaries on video art and experimental cinema, we also investigate what some thinkers call "expanded cinema" - video artwork made for multiple and simultaneous screens, addressed for the experimental spaces - pointing out how this production Is inserted in the network today.
Hybrid Forms in Brazilian Contemporary Art Today shows how cinema and video are developing outside of the traditional exhibition halls, a visual experience placed out of the establishment, what some call post-cinematic. Here, the video emerges as multiple media, capable of unfolding in countless formats in continuous transformation.
